Following the 1999 release of Artisan Pictures’ The Blair Witch Project, the world became aware of an urban legend birthed in the dark forests of Burkittsville, Maryland. The Blair Witch Project was a chilling and innovative example of horror cinema, but it was only a part of the story. These unique comic book tales expand on the legend of the Blair Witch, delving deeper into the origins of the mysterious woman Elly Kedward and the influence her presence has had on the small East Coast town over the years. From the murders at Coffin Rock and the tragic story of Rustin Parr, through the ’50s and schoolboy pranks gone wrong to the ’90s and a Wiccan coven’s attempts to cleanse the woods, the true mystery of the Blair Witch has only begun to be unraveled.

In 1785, Elly Kedward was driven out of the Township of Blair in North Central Maryland. A year later, her accusers started disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Fearing Elly had cursed them all, the people of Blair fled, abandoning their town and giving birth to a legend. This one-shot comic works in conjunction with the recently unearthed documentary shot by a film crew who never returned to relate their experience. It fleshes out the mystery, relating the frightening stories of other people who have had run-ins with the mysterious, mythical Blair Witch, a new staple of modern horror. Written by Jennifer Van Meter, it contains three stories by three of comics top illustrators: Guy Davis, Bernie Mireault, and Tommy Lee Edwards.

In our opening book, we travel back to the 1950s. A teenage prank in the Black Hills goes horribly wrong, leaving two people dead and the others afraid to talk — until now!
